Andrew has been (and continues to be) a sounding board, a voice of reason and a valuable business friend to me over the past few years. He has willingly offered his time and support at a pivotal point in my career; a pivotal point often overlooked and not talked about- as my youngest child started school, I felt ready to give much more to my career again. The 0-4 years for me were about survival- the sleepless nights and the immediate needs of young kids made those early years a complete blur- balancing the demands of motherhood and a legal career often felt like the impossible challenge.
Coming out the other side of that chapter, many women can feel quite lost and very adrift. Andrew offered the proverbial “leg up” I needed at the exact time I needed it. Without him to lean on I think I would have found it very difficult to see the way forward. Andrew provided me with a safe space to “vent” my (many!) frustrations and helped me to channel my energies into building useful roadmaps and clear and achievable strategies to ensure that I could achieve my goals. He encouraged me to stop apologising for being a working mother, to harness that extra strength and to sometimes just accept the extra obstacles for women.
I always feel like he has my very best interests at heart- there is never any agenda, he listens, draws on his years of experience in professional services to offer advice, is receptive to feedback and exudes trust from the outset.
